Kathey Pear is a seasoned expert in the commercial furniture industry, having launched her career after leaving Pullman, WA in 1975 with a nearly worthless MFA in sculpture and ceramics. Initially hired by Sears as a home decorator, she shifted to the realm of Boulder office furniture with a Steelcase dealer in Denver in 1980. In 1984, she teamed up with her mentor, Tom Drever/DBS, and subsequently founded and led various furniture dealerships in Colorado, including Pear Commercial Interiors, Citron WorkSpaces, Pear Project Services, and currently, PEARSPECTIVE. Her extensive experience encompasses dealer ownership, product knowledge, workplace consulting, and a wealth of hands-on project experience catering to diverse client needs, particularly in premium used office furniture.
Kathey is renowned for creating cost-effective solutions for complex furniture transitions, focusing on sustainable furniture solutions that include product evaluation, decommissioning, move management, donation coordination, resale, recycling, and innovative repurposing. She expertly combines business practicality with a strong commitment to sustainability, assisting organizations in managing excess furniture efficiently and responsibly, benefiting both current owners and future end-users while also being environmentally conscious.
